Neill & Brown lifts profile with £180k crane-mounted truck

Neill & Brown Global Logistics has reported new business avenues following the single most expensive investment in its fleet.

Its bespoke £180,000 crane-mounted truck is capable of lifting units of up to nine tonnes, and has a 14-metre crane reach.

The flexible vehicle is being used locally and nationally, including on several railway sites around the country and on housing and commercial construction sites for the transport of site cabins and modular buildings.

As the latest addition to the company’s growing fleet of 40 vehicles, it is part of Neill & Brown’s commitment to acquire 35 new trucks over the next five years.

The new truck has been specially adapted to allow wheeled vehicles, such as forklift cherry pickers and other types of plant machinery, to be driven on and off using hydraulic ramps.

Neill & Brown’s CEO Peter Brown said: “This is a considerable investment and is indicative of the upturn in the construction sector both regionally and nationally and also of our optimism in general economic growth.

“The vehicle is of huge benefit to our construction clients. We also anticipate demand from other areas of industry including onshore and offshore wind, and the wider energy sector,” he said.

Custom built in Scotland, its bespoke configuration includes a hydraulic beaver tailback, ramps, winch, crane and flatbed.

Neill & Brown recently announced a £2.5m investment in 40,000 sq ft of warehousing at Marfleet Environmental Technology Park with help from the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership’s Growing the Humber fund. The development will be operational by September and will create 26 jobs over the next three years.

Neill & Brown is an official business partner of World Trade Centre Hull & Humber of which Peter Brown is a director. The company also signed up as the first ‘business angel’ in support of Hull as City of Culture 2017.
