Backwatch enhances radar blind spot offering

Backwatch Safety Products Ltd has announced it has released an enhanced 77Ghz radar blind spot option over and above its standard radar offering, providing a longer range with a more detailed detection system.

Fitted both off and nearside with a 120-degree angle of detection, the system will warn of people, cyclists and vehicles up to 30m down whole length of a fitted vehicle. It is said to be particularly useful for longer vehicles, tractor and trailer combinations.

The customer can select from two versions; the first is a vulnerable road user (VRU) and high speed detection system, operating from stationary and warning of any VRU or road vehicle travelling at the same or higher speed as the fitted vehicle.

A second version operates above 30 mph and only gives warnings of vehicles travelling (at same or faster speed) in adjacent lanes, whilst monitoring vehicles in the thirdlane in case they move into adjacent lanes.

The system works independently of indicators, but provides audible in addition to visual warnings when the indicator operates.

Backwatch has been supplying the transport and commercial vehicle industry since 1998, and says it provides a one-stop shop for all safety, evidence and compliance products which meet DVS, FORS and Crossrail standards. The company has been a FORS member since its inception.

The offering is supported by a country-wide team of auto-engineers providing fitting and maintenance services, with no premium charge for work carried out on weekends or bank holidays.
