Air conditioning service specialist Waeco has launched the ASC 6400 G LE, which it says is the first AC service unit to be approved by a testing institute (TÜV Nord) for use with the four refrigerants R134a, R1234yf, R513A and R456A.

“The service unit can be customised for the respective application by using a dedicated hose package for each refrigerant and by dedicated programming for the refrigerant at hand,” said the company.

“With our quadruple-certified appliances, we are future-proofing our products and supporting the option of converting to more climate-friendly refrigerants.”

The launch comes as the Waeco brand celebrates its 50th anniversary. Part of the Dometic portfolio since 2009, it was originally brought to life in 1974.

“In 1974 Europe was struggling with the aftermath of the oil crisis, the Watergate scandal shocked the USA, Rubik’s Cube was invented and Abba won Eurovision with Waterloo.  Somewhat less noticed by the public, the Waeco brand was launched.”

Waeco cites its reputation as a technical brand designed to make everyday life easier.

“When we look back over the past decades, we can also look back on real milestones,” said the company. Among those highlighted are the first fully automatic air conditioning service unit; the patent for a moisture-free professional oil system; original replacement parts, which the brand says have sometimes even turned out better than the original part; and refrigerant recycling with ‘Low Emission’ technology, which is said to enable almost 100 per cent recycling of refrigerant, thereby reducing environmental impact.

“Numerous workshop and environmental awards later, Waeco still stands for making work in automotive AC workshops easier, safer, more economical and more environmentally friendly,” the firm concluded.
